Tom Cruise reunites with Fallout and Rogue Nation writer-director Christopher McQuarrie for the eigth and possibly last chapter in the spy actioner series. Cruise is joined by Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Angela Bassett. Premiering at Cannes, the film centres on Ethan Hunt’s mission to thwart a rogue AI known as the Entity.

Following the events of Dead Reckoning Part One, Hunt is on the run, confronting the Entity—a sentient AI threatening global stability. With allies Benji (Pegg), Luther (Rhames), and newcomer Grace (Atwell), Hunt seeks a cruciform key to access the Podkova device aboard a sunken Russian submarine, aiming to neutralise the AI.
